“Augmenting the Empower coursebook” workshop

1:30PM-3:00PM
online

On the afternoon of 8th June, 2022, Creative Language Center of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a workshop with the theme “Augmenting the Empower coursebook”.

The workshop was conducted online via the Zoom application for all lecturers at the Center, which aims to not only provide lecturers with classroom activities (either face-to-face or online) in addition to those included in the Empower coursebook, but also help lecturers flexibly adjust the teaching content to suit actual needs. This is also an opportunity for lecturers to directly discuss issues related to the Empower coursebook with Cambridge.

Opening the workshop were the speeches by Ms. Le Thi Le Huyen (Country Manager), Ms. Ly Tu Nhan (Senior Marketing Executive) representing Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sy (in charge of the Center) representing Creative Language Center.

The keynote speaker at the workshop was Mr. Allen Davenport, Professional Learning and Development Manager for the Southeast Asia region at Cambridge University Press, and a member of the University of Cambridge's Global Journalism Training Council. Allen has been involved in English language teaching and training for more than 15 years in various roles including teacher, academic program coordinator, certified examiner for multiple assessment organisations. Allen is a frequent speaker at conferences, workshops and seminars on various topics throughout Asia, UK and the Middle East. At the workshop, he shared and exchanged his experience related to integrating creativity into the classroom and investigating how English language teaching is adapting to suit the needs of the 21st-century learners.

The workshop was attended by nearly 50 lecturers of the Center.
