Workshop on “Tips for teaching real English with TED Talks”

On April 17th Creative Language Center hosted Lewis Lansford the co-author of Keynote Series – the first ELT course book based on TED Talks. The speaker presented the mechanism of using TED Talks as the authentic content and shared his classroom experience with CLC lecturers.

TED as a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world inspires people around the world since 1984. TED speakers believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and the world. Their presentations are discussed by people from all over the world. Therefore, it makes them a perfect tool that can attract, inspire and motivate ESL students.

Lewis Lansford introduced the mechanism that stands behind watching and listening to authentic content as well as presented techniques that allow teachers to use it on different levels of language proficiency. He successfully demonstrated that authentic content such as TED Talks if used properly can be efficient and interesting even for lower level students.
